At Anahad Music Academy, our harmonium classes are designed to give students a deep understanding of the harmonium (reed-organ) as both a solo and accompanying instrument. These classes cover not only how to play the instrument, but also explore its rich history and its evolving role in today’s musical landscape.
The journey begins with the basics—learning how to pump the bellows, identify and play different keys, and control sound dynamics. Students gradually develop coordination and sensitivity to pitch and tone, which are essential in mastering this classical instrument.
Here’s what you can expect from our harmonium classes:
While it typically takes about four years to fully master the harmonium, students can grasp the basics within three to five months.
With the rise of modern music styles, we also explore how the harmonium can be creatively incorporated into contemporary genres.
Most students begin playing simple melodies by their second month and progress to more complex compositions at their own pace.
Our teaching approach is personalized—every student learns differently, and we support that individuality.
Daily practice and assigned homework help reinforce skills and encourage consistent improvement.
A key goal of our classes is not just performance, but also developing a strong foundation in music theory so that students can eventually compose and express their own music.
As part of our broader music classes, harmonium lessons are often integrated with classical singing training. This combination helps students understand how to use the harmonium as an accompaniment instrument while strengthening their vocal abilities.
Whether you’re passionate about classical singing or simply looking to expand your musical skills, our music classes at Anahad offer a well-rounded and supportive environment to help you grow.
The black and white keys of harmonium teach us that life is song blended with notes of natural events.

Hindustani vocals, also known as North Indian classical music, are a beautiful blend of expressive singing and traditional instruments like the sitar, tabla, and harmonium. The art form is known for its range of vocal styles, each adding a unique emotional depth—ranging from soft and meditative to bold and powerful.
At Anahad Music Academy, our music classes in Raipur include specialized training in Hindustani vocals, often paired with harmonium classes to help students better grasp rhythms and taals.
Here’s what students can expect from our Hindustani vocals program:
The journey starts with core vocal techniques such as breathing exercises, pitch control, and expanding vocal range—laying a strong foundation for future growth.
Students are then introduced to music theory, covering melody, rhythm, and timing. Every student progresses at their own pace, and our instructors tailor the learning experience accordingly.
After the first month, when students have a basic understanding of their vocal strengths, they begin working on more complex compositions to further refine their skills.
Confidence on stage is just as important as skill. That’s why the academy organizes regular performances at spiritual and cultural venues—such as kirtans in holy places—giving students real-life stage experience.
For students pursuing the B.A. in Music (Private), the program includes focused training in raags and taals, preparing them for both academic and professional success.
Ultimately, our goal is to help students not only improve their singing ability but also develop the confidence to perform comfortably in front of large audiences.
Through our structured and supportive music classes in Raipur, students gain a deep appreciation of Hindustani vocals while building the skills they need to express themselves through the timeless power of Indian classical music.
